The Brooches

Eittem for The Frick Collection invites a contemporary New York atelier into dialogue with historic craftsmanship. United by shared material, the collection responds to the carved wood overmantel created by Abraham Miller in 1914 for the walnut-paneled bedroom of Henry Clay Frick. Now known as the Walnut Room, the second-floor private quarters opened to the public for the first time in 2025 following the mansion’s five-year renovation.

Across the collection, Eittem’s engagement with archetypal forms from nature finds a meaningful counterpart in the botanical language of Miller’s carvings. The resulting works are conceived as a tribute to his artistry, to the materialintelligence of the Walnut Room, and to the enduring presence of the maker’s hand.
