Founded by Creative Director Erin Saluti, the studio implements meticulous craftsmanship and state-of-the-art technology to produce timeless, sculptural pieces that function as handbags. Materials & Processes

Eittem is rooted in the desire to elevate high quality materials through refined design. Sourced almost entirely within the U.S., each material has been intentionally sought to create something wholly unique. Eittem evolved its own methodology of creation over its five years in research and development. Now, a small team of in-house artist-makers brings Eittem’s patented designs to life. Combining technology and handcraft, the Eittem process takes two weeks to complete from solid walnut to finished bag.

Documented in motion, experience the Eittem process in the Journal.

Salvaged walnut wood is carved to precision using state-of-the-art machinery in the Eittem production studio.
Fine Alpine calf leather is hand-sculpted to fit the contours of the bag interior.
Designed in-studio, inlaid stainless-steel hardware is custom fit to each bag shape and hand-polished to jewelry quality.
Beginning as hand-drawn sketches, archetypal shapes are reduced to their purest forms.
A range of tools includes vintage, hand-operated machinery, lending traditional methods to the bag’s construction.
Artist-makers carefully hone the bags at every step in the Eittem process.

Signature Packaging

Eittem blue is a reserved and elusive hue, a distillation of the natural world. Graphic icons refresh the craft guild and precious metal hallmark systems, denoting site, shape, material, and color. Learn more in the Journal.
